M4-HEALTH is an excellence cluster pre-project financed by VINNOVA, which, by way of building a large coalition of competent actors, seeks to create a new model for health. This new model is centered around hybrid digital twins and AI. We seek to transform our current reactive and hospital-centric healthcare system into a preventive, personalized, ecosystem-based approach, which is bound together by the next big breakthrough in AI: Personalized digital twins of individuals. Personalized digital twins are made possible through our world-unique model that combines processes from the intracellular level to the whole-body response to account for all major functionalities in the body.
We are looking for four types of actors.
We are interested in participation from both scientists, companies, organizations, societies, universities, governmental agencies, as well as private citizens. You can join in any of the four activities. You can also sign up to become an early beta-tester of the new digital twin technologies and eHealth apps.
The old, hospital-centric models are crumbling. They will not be able to carry us forward much longer.
Demographically, we are in the middle of a major increase in the number of elderly people that have to be cared for by a proportionally smaller and smaller working force.
This will lead to drastic increases in cost and demand for healthcare personnel, which we are unlikely to be able to produce.
New innovations in AI imply that the basic dynamics of how healthcare is structured are rapidly changing, e.g. regarding how knowledge is generated, tested, and spread to end-users.
Additional technological revolutions in measurement technologies such as multi-omics analysis and wearable sensors imply that new types of highly informative data are rapidly becoming available.
We are in urgent need for new disruptive innovations, regarding both technologies and associated societal structures. We need a new model for health.
At the heart of this new model for health lies what we believe to be the next big
breakthrough within AI and data-driven life science: personalized digital twins of
individuals, which combines M4 models for how the body works - with machine
learning (ML) and large language models (LLMs).
